How to order a certified birth certificate (by state)

Where to order from
Every state has a Vital Records office (usually part of the state Department of Health). Some states also let county clerks issue certified copies.
If you were born abroad to U.S. parents, you don't have a state birth certificate — you have a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), which you replace through the State Department instead.
How to request one

By mail with a completed application, a photocopy of your ID, and a check.
